Job Description

Hamilton Connections is looking for a Production Lead for a busy manufacturing company in Newtown, CT. This is a temp-to-hire position. 
 
Job Summary:
The Production Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the production line, ensuring that all manufacturing processes run smoothly, efficiently, and safely. This role involves supervising a team of production workers, ensuring high-quality output, meeting production targets, and maintaining adherence to company policies and safety standards. The Team Lead plays a crucial role in continuous improvement efforts, troubleshooting production issues, and fostering a collaborative, positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Team Leadership and Supervision:
    • Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of production workers.
    • Assign daily tasks and ensure all employees follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews.
    • Provide training and guidance to new and existing team members.
  2. Production Operations:
    • Ensure production schedules are met, monitor production output, and adjust team assignments as needed.
    • Manage production workflows to ensure optimal efficiency, quality, and safety.
    • Troubleshoot production issues and resolve problems quickly to minimize downtime.
    • Monitor and control resource usage (raw materials, tools, etc.) to ensure cost-effective production.
  3. Quality Control:
    • Oversee and enforce quality control standards to ensure products meet company and regulatory standards.
    • Conduct regular inspections of work and products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
    • Identify and address any quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  4. Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to safety regulations, including the proper use of equipment, PPE (personal protective equipment), and emergency procedures.
    • Conduct regular safety meetings and encourage a culture of safety within the team.
    • Report any safety hazards or incidents to management and take corrective actions as needed.
  5. Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify areas for process improvement and work with the production team and management to implement solutions.
    • Suggest and lead initiatives to increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency.
    • Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement programs as required.
  6. Communication and Reporting:
    • Communicate effectively with management and other departments to relay important production updates, issues, and needs.
    • Maintain accurate production records, including output, materials used, and downtime.
    • Assist in preparing daily, weekly, or monthly reports on production progress and team performance.
 
Working Conditions:
  • Full-time position; may include evening, weekend, or overtime shifts based on production schedules.
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing or industrial environment, which may involve exposure to noise, heavy machinery, and varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to lift and move items of varying weight and stand or walk for extended periods.
