Hamilton Connections is seeking candidates for a transportation lead position at a company in Newtown, CT. This is a temp-to-hire position.
The transportation lead is responsible for overseeing daily transportation operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of goods.
The hours are 2:30 p.m.-11 p.m., Monday-Friday. The salary is $23-$25 an hour.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the transportation team (drivers, dispatchers, etc.)
- Plan and optimize delivery routes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Ensure all shipments are delivered on time and in compliance with company and regulatory standards
- Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and ensure all transportation equipment is in safe, working condition
- Maintain compliance with DOT regulations
- Maintain accurate transportation logs, reports and documentation
- Assist with hiring, training and performance evaluations of transportation personnel
- Resolve issues related to delivery delays, vehicle breakdowns or driver concerns
- Communicate effectively with retail stores, production team and external logistics partners
- Enforce safety standards and company policies, including DOT and OSHA
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- 3 or more years of experience in transportation, logistics or a related field
- Valid and clean driver’s license; CDL preferred
- Valid DOT medical card
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety requirements
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Proficient and experience in route planning
- Able to work overtime and weekends, if necessary
