Hamilton Connections is seeking candidates for a production supervisor position at a food production company with locations in Newtown and Meriden. This is a temp-to-hire position.
The production supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the production line, ensuring that all manufacturing processes run smoothly, efficiently and safely.
Candidates must be able to work flexible hours and days. The schedule rotates two weeks on first shift and then two weeks on second shift. The salary is $27-30 an hour.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of production workers
- Assign daily tasks and ensure all employees follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews
- Provide training and guidance to new and existing team members
- Ensure production schedules are met, monitor production output, and adjust team assignments as needed
- Manage production workflows to ensure optimal efficiency, quality, and safety
- Troubleshoot production issues and resolve problems quickly to minimize downtime
- Monitor and control resource usage (raw materials, tools, etc.) to ensure cost-effective production
- Oversee and enforce quality control standards to ensure products meet company and regulatory standards
- Conduct regular inspections of work and products to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Identify and address any quality issues and implement corrective actions
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations, including the proper use of equipment, PPE (personal protective equipment), and emergency procedures
- Conduct regular safety meetings and encourage a culture of safety within the team
- Report any safety hazards or incidents to management and take corrective actions as needed
- Identify areas for process improvement and work with the production team and management to implement solutions
- Suggest and lead initiatives to increase productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency
- Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement programs as required
- Communicate effectively with management and other departments to relay important production updates, issues, and needs
- Maintain accurate production records, including output, materials used, and downtime
- Assist in preparing daily, weekly, or monthly reports on production progress and team performance
Job Requirements:
- Strong experience supervising a team of production workers, ensuring high-quality output, and meeting production targets
- Experience working in a manufacturing and/or food production setting
- Experience troubleshooting production issues
- Experience fostering a collaborative, positive work environment
- Able to work flexible hours, including overtime, holidays and weekends
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus
- Able to handle physical aspects of the job, including lifting and moving items of varying weight and standing or walking for extended periods
- Able to pass pre-employment screenings
