Hamilton Connections is seeking candidates for a toolroom machinist position at a manufacturing company in Bethel, CT. The toolroom machinist sets up and operates CNC VMCs and utilizes manual machines for repair and production of tools and dies. This is a temp-to-hire position.
The hours are 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday. The pay is $35-$40 an hour, depending on experience.
Job Responsibilities:
- Setup/operate HAAS and FRYER vertical machining centers
- Repair dies, fixtures and machine work as needed in the toolroom
- Perform routine machine maintenance
- Help with generation of work instructions when required
- Prove out NC programs and make offset adjustments when necessary
- Set up tools and find Zero positions
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to verify parts are within tolerance
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years' recent, consecutive, experience as a machinist
- Experience using HAAS and FRYER CNC machines, manual machine tools and processes including CNC lathes/mills
- Working knowledge of Mastercam a plus
- Working knowledge of writing, editing, and evaluating G-code strongly preferred
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals and familiar with GD&T
- Ability to use and interpret inspection equipment including precision tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
- Ability to set up tools and find Zero positions
- Ability to build fixtures
- Willingness to learn new machines and processes
- Organized with the ability to multi-task and be adaptable to change
- Good math skills
- Good interpersonal and leadership skills
- Analytical thinking/problem solving
- Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of vocational training strongly preferred
