Summary:  This position is responsible for welding components together with TIG-welding equipment.   

 Responsibilities: 

• Scan manufacturing orders for labor and machine time reporting.

• Follow instructions while using close vision to read CAD drawings and or manufacturing orders for operating parameters. Select correct electrode and insert electrode into holder. 

• Lift or move up to 50 pounds while positioning and clamping work pieces together or assembling them in a jig or fixture as well as to weld in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.

• Connect ground cable from welding unit to table or part. Turn gas on.  Start power supply to produce electric current and adjust voltage to metal thickness.

• Strike an arc, to generate heat, which melts the work piece and joins or fills edges of work piece.

• Monitor one’s own work to ensure quality by performing first piece and periodic quality checks by manually guiding electrode or torch along weld lines to form specified size of molten puddle. Apply filler rod manually to supply weld metal.

• Cleans weld joint or work piece. Fill holes. 

• Perform basic math functions and use MRP software to complete required documentation as needed such as Machine Production Sheet, Stock Transit Ticket or Production Control Tally Sheets.

• Observe all safety and security procedures, report potential unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly.

• Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, and work well in a group setting to solve situations.

• Perform all other duties as assigned.
