Hamilton Connections of Waterbury is looking for a box truck driver for a distribution company in Waterbury, CT. Must have previous commercial driving experience, and must have or be willing to get DOT Med Card. CDL-B license is a plus, but not necessary. This is a temp-to-perm position.
The hours are 5 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. The salary is $20-$21 per hour.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare truck for operation by assisting in and overseeing the loading of trucks, securing of items, and verifying the accuracy of shipping papers
- Drive company truck to deliver orders to branches and/or customers' sites, which includes unloading products
- Document delivery, accuracy, and receipt of orders by the customer according to company directives; report any discrepancies to company
- Follow route manifest set by delivery manager
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, fuel the truck as needed, and report any problems or issues to supervisor
- Comply with all Department of Transportation standards and regulations
- May assist warehouse personnel with preparing orders for shipment as needed, as well as receiving, and verifying incoming material
- Properly track and document activity log; keep records on the use or damage of stock or stock-handling equipment
- Deliver outstanding customer service and build professional relationships by treating customers and colleagues in a friendly and respectful manner
- Frequently ascend/descend from truck during deliveries
- Maintain a safe driving record free of violations
Job Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- At least 2 years of related work experience
- Have a valid CDL Class B driver’s license
- Have a valid DOT medical card or qualify to obtain one, if hired
- Clean driving record free of accidents and moving violations
- Background in warehouse operations and logistics a plus
- Able to sit for long periods
- Able to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Able to frequently ascend/descend from truck during deliveries
- Able to work in temperatures that may be affected by outside temperature
- Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Have a positive attitude, be a good team player and maintain good attendance
