JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
LOCATION: MIDDLETOWN, CT
SCHEDULE: MONDAY – FRIDAY 7AM-4PM
PAY RANGE: $26 -$35/HOUR

POSITION SUMMARY
Repair maintain and setup food production machines. Analyze the root cause of a defect, dismantle, repair, order parts, and reassemble using hand tools and power tools. Work in a clean food environment. Requires proactive, innovative, and analytical individuals who can perform in a fast-paced, Team oriented food plant environment. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, welding, machining, fabrication, and the ability to read and interpret written instructions, prints, schematics, and basic computer skills is necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintain, set-up, program, test, operate, and troubleshoot all equipment to ensure production goals are met
- Perform machine setup, troubleshooting, and repairs to machinery and facilities
- Perform preventive maintenance of equipment but not limited to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines
- Perform more advanced mechanical repairs such as replacing bearings, worn gears, gearboxes, chains, etc.
- Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal, equipment issues with management and be able to work effectively with interdepartmental groups
- Document all repairs by maintaining maintenance logs
- Identity parts needed for repairs, complete requisition to place order, follow up with parts delivery, and install new parts
- Ability to utilize equipment schematics and assembly plans to effectively troubleshoot electromechanically problems
- Able to perform more complicated electrical/electronic repairs, requiring the use of test equipment such as DVM, clamp-on ammeter
- Operate hand, power, and bench tools, use proper safe machine shop practices
- Installation of new production/automation equipment
- Responsible for working safely and maintain a clean working environment
- Comply with OSHA Safety and Health regulations, and all company, USDA, and FDA regulations for food plants. This requires the understanding of HACCP and SSOP plans and the ability to comply with these regulations
- safely perform all tasks. Report all safety hazards to management so that corrective action can be taken immediately.
- Good attendance and reporting to work on time is required to do this job satisfactorily.
- Fabricate small items with metal, plastic, and wood.
- Able to weld using MiG, Tig, and Stick on stainless steel.
- Ability to work and maintain the exterior and interior of the facility as necessary.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree and technical schooling:
Required Experience: 4 plus years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills to input data in the Preventive Maintenance Manuals Certifications & Licenses: OSHA 10-hour certification, Forklift, scissor lift certification, Electrical E2, Welding certification, not required but desired. Vocational/trade school diploma desired
Other Requirements: Mechanical aptitude. Ability to work independently with little to moderate technical direction. Ability to communicate effectively: read, write, and understand English.
