Hamilton Connections is seeking candidates for a machinist position at a manufacturing company in Newtown, CT. This is a temp-to-hire position.
The hours are 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday. The salary is $24-$30 an hour, depending on experience.
Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver production jobs on time and within budget
- Setup, maintenance and operation of milling machines, lathes, CNC & NC machines
- Support the manufacturing engineering team to develop process sheets for new products
- Operate up to 3 machines at one time
- Set up machines for the next shift operators based on orders
- Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output
- Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job
- Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping
- Select appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job
- Determine and program size of batches, speed of machine etc.
- First piece inspections using micrometers, calipers and 3D scanners to ensure parts are within tolerance
- Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues
- Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects
- Secondary duties such as deburring, welding, fabrication, assembly and other manufacturing tasks
- Maintain a safe working atmosphere and safe use of machines
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- 5 + years of proven manufacturing experience as a machinist
- Experience operating multiple CNC machines at once; experience with DMG Mori, Noumara Swiss machines strongly preferred
- Set up & run complete jobs using milling machines, lathes, CNC & NC Machines both vertical & horizontal working from drawings & sketches
- Experience with machining titanium and aluminum
- Experience working to +/- 0.005 machining tolerance
- Experience changing tools, offsets and selecting programs on machines according to process method sheets
- Familiar with G code and programming of CNC machines
- Experience doing first piece inspections using micrometers, calipers and 3D scanners to ensure parts are within tolerance
- Deburring, welding, fabrication, assembly and other manufacturing experience a plus
- Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including heavy lifting
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
