Job Description

Title:  Chemical Processing and Environmental Compliance Lab Technician
Location: New Britain, CT
Full time 8am-430pm
Temp to Hire
Pay $21-$24/hr

Responsibilities:

QA Test Lab
 
Maintains test equipment and chemical inventory in QA Lab to assure compliance with customer, industry and certification requirements (AS 9100, NADCAP, etc).
Performs all periodic, lot and batch testing required for Phosphate immersion process, including coating weight, corrosion resistance and preservative oils.
Maintains and adjusts Salt Fog testing equipment for continued operation in accordance with ASTM B117
Performs daily laboratory analysis of all phosphate immersion tank chemistries required by procedures and specifications and makes adjustments to chemical makeup to assure continued compliance.
Performs internal calibration of equipment and measuring equipment including but not limited to temperature, pressure, pH and specific gravity.
Performs extended time fluid resistance testing to customer specifications

Waste Water Treatment System
    Performs and records all daily checks of Waste Water treatment system.
Works with Outside Laboratory service to coordinate sampling and test of monthly and periodic Waste Water samples and analyzes results.
Maintains outgoing effluent pH and chemical content levels in accordance with CT Department of Environmental Protection permit.
    Maintains and replenishes chemical inventory for Waste Water Treatment system.
    Prepares monthly and annual DMR for submission to regulatory authorities.
Extracts and disposes of Filter Cake collected by the Waste Water system in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
Maintains and records Volatile Organic Compound records and prepares annual reports in accordance with CT Department of Environmental Protection consent order.

Environmental materials and Hazardous Waste management
Performs and documents weekly and periodic inspections of Hazardous Materials and Wastes to assure compliance with EH&S and regulatory requirements.
Contracts outside Hazardous Waste services for Disposal of waste in accordance with our Small Quantity Generator status
Works on-site with Hazardous waste carrier to contain, manifest and track Hazardous and non-hazardous waste removal.
Prepares samples for laboratory analysis to establish waste stream profiles
Maintains waste profile datatbase
Receives all SDS’s and actively maintains hardcopy SDS files.

QA Technician
Back up QA technician capable of performing product testing and inspection to meet service requirements.
